We’re a cosy, yet beautifully formed letterpress studio located in the charming Cotswold town of Chipping Campden. We are firm believers in traditional printing methods and processes from start to finish.
Our vintage inspired studio is home to the beautiful ‘Marigold’ our Heidelberg 10 x 15 Windmill and ‘Martha’ the splendid Crown folio Arab. Both of our precious presses are true works of art and are fondly maintained and cared for in order to safeguard their original condition and heritage.
Although the two presses both produce exquisite letterpress pieces of all shapes and sizes, they go about it in very different ways. The Heidelberg windmill is a fully automatic press, she has two main arms which do a full 360 degree rotation (hence the windmill in the name) where she collects, prints and delivers each printed piece. The Arab on the other hand is the good old fashioned way with no electricity just the power of my right leg! Each piece of board or paper is hand fed onto the bed then the print impression is taken. Which ever press we use the results are truly devine. Once your letterpress treats have been printed, we need to trim them down to size. To help us do this we call on the services of our “Frederick Ullmer” guillotine. Production of these machines started in 1825.
Here at Cherry Press we mix all of our inks by hand using the Pantone colour scale and all of our super-thick boards are sourced from sustainably managed forests.
We hope you enjoy our website and our letterpressed goodness – look forward to hearing from you soon.
